Wedding Decorations

At your wedding, decorations are of course a must. Will you go for a specific theme or not? If you choose a certain theme, match the decorations to it so everything fits together nicely. All the decor should complement each other, so choose carefully and consider your preferences.

Wedding sign/poster

The first decoration idea is a wedding welcome sign or poster. This is placed at the entrance of the ceremony and includes a welcome message from you. For example: Welcome to the wedding of Annet & Patrick. This way, you welcome all guests as the happy couple. You can design this sign or poster together to match a specific color scheme or theme.

Garlands

No party is complete without garlands. They instantly create a festive vibe—when you see garlands, you know there’s a celebration going on. Garlands come in different sizes, colors, and texts. You can make your own to keep the budget low, and it’s a fun idea to spend an afternoon with friends creating them. You can also design custom garlands online. There are plenty of fun ones, like “Just Married” or “Mr & Mrs.”

Balloons

Balloons are also a lovely decorative option. They bring a festive atmosphere and look beautiful. You can order them in different sizes, colors, and with custom texts. Some even allow you to print a photo on them. Confetti balloons are a trend—just rub them against your clothes to create static so the confetti sticks inside the balloon for a magical effect. A balloon arch, where guests can walk through, is also a real eye-catcher.

Mood lighting

Mood lighting creates a cozy vibe in the dark. You can place small candles in stylish holders. At the party, hang string lights or disco ball lights for a cheerful atmosphere. Lightboxes are also trendy—boxes that light up where you can create a cute message with small letters.

Signposts as decoration

Signposts are small boards that show directions. For example, one might point to the bar or dance floor. Instead of just writing “left bar”, you place a wooden or chalkboard arrow pointing left with the word “bar” on it. These signs are both decorative and practical, helping guests find their way.

The wedding car

Often overlooked, but definitely part of the decor: the wedding car. Once you’ve chosen the car together, you can decide if you want to decorate it. It can be adorned with fun elements like stickers that say “All you need is love”. Make sure to get permission from the owner if the car isn’t yours. You can also add garlands or hang the classic tin cans behind it—those can be decorated too!

DIY wedding decorations

To complete the wedding decor, the details matter most. Small touches make a big difference. Place name tags on the dinner table—one on each plate. Small clothespins for the tablecloth look cute and are functional. Another fun idea is to make your own stickers. These could include a photo or simply letters from an alphabet sticker sheet, letting you create your own messages.
