Hostibg a Reunion

A reunion can take place in many forms and among different groups. You can organize one with former classmates, old colleagues, sports team members, or as a family reunion.

What is a Reunion?

A reunion is a gathering of people who once formed a group but later went separate ways. Everyone has their own reason for attending, often motivated by nostalgia or a special occasion.

Why Organize a Reunion?

It’s a fun way to reconnect after a long time. People might be married now, have children, or live abroad. You can catch up, share stories, and find out what everyone is doing now. Sometimes you reconnect with someone you didn’t get along with before – and it might turn out great. New friendships can form, so there’s really no downside.

When to Hold a Reunion

Usually, a reunion takes place a few years after the last contact. Choose a date that works for most people. You can send out two options and go with the most popular one. Also include a time and make sure the event doesn’t run too long – long reunions can feel awkward.

Finding People Again

You’ll need everyone’s contact info to send invitations. These days, it’s easy with just a first and last name – search on Facebook or Instagram. You can usually message them directly. If you prefer email, try to find it via social media or by Googling their name along with the company they work for.

The Invitation

Decide how to create and send the invitation. Sending a physical card is tough without addresses, so online is easier. You can write a nice message in Word or design a fun PDF. Include the date, time, reason for the event, and whether they can bring someone, like a partner.

What to Do at a Reunion

Class Reunion:
See your old classmates after 10+ years. Hosting it at your former school can be nostalgic. Add music, snacks, and have conversations about the past and present.

Family Reunion:
Some families meet often, others never. If you rarely see each other, it’s a great opportunity to reconnect. Go out to eat or plan a fun activity together.

Sports Club Reunion:
Invite former club members and meet at your old sports club. See how things have changed and whether your old coach is still around. You could even play a match together again.

Colleague Reunion:
These are often arranged by the company itself. Former coworkers come together to chat, share what they’re doing now, and relive work memories. Photos from old company events are often shown.

Party Photo App
A fun idea is to use a party photo app during the reunion. Guests can take pictures that are shown live on a screen. Old photos can also be added from phones. It’s a great conversation starter and reduces awkwardness. After the event, you can share a link with all the photos – a great way to relive the fun and see how everyone’s changed.
